Marta Bausmer - School Nurse
(She, Her, Hers)

Nurse B has been a school nurse in the Boston Public Schools for over a decade, and has lived in Boston her entire life. Nurse B is not only the school nurse at BGA, but also the first staff member who is also the proud parent of a BGA graduate, class of 2020! As a member of the Student Support Team, Nurse B loves taking care of students across all grade levels. Nurse B is also going into their tenth year as the high school GSA advisor.

BGA was the recipient of the 2018 wellness award for building a safe and supportive community for LGBTQ+ students. Nurse B is also one of three elected BTU building reps, a member of the nurse faculty senate, and in 2021 received a $15,000 grant from The Nellie Mae Education Foundation to implement a program using art to connect students  during Covid-19. Art Love is about showing everyone the power of art and using it as a way to stay connected, and to build equity and voice especially in the LGBTQ+ community.

Art Love was a huge success and connected dozens of students with art , resources, and partners schools and nonprofits. Nurse B hopes to continue Art Love and to keep spreading joy through her own art. Nurse B enjoys spending downtime with her three incredible kids and family doing whatever brings them joy, including being outside and enjoying nature, making art, trains, construction trucks, mud, rock collecting, learning to moon walk, and anything that involves dinosaurs.
